1. The Service
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of DemoPro, including our website, portal, APIs, upload endpoints, plugins/integrations, evidence bundles, and related tools (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, clan, community, business, or server (“Organisation”), you confirm you have authority to bind that Organisation.
Important: DemoPro provides tooling to assist moderation workflows. You remain responsible for your moderation decisions, compliance obligations, and how you communicate and use evidence.
2. Definitions
- “Content” means anything uploaded, generated, stored, or submitted through the Service (e.g., demo files, archives, metadata, report details, timestamps, notes, audit logs, and attachments).
- “Organisation” means the server owner/operator entity using the Service, including its members.
- “Owner” means the Organisation’s administrator role within the Service (typically the person who manages billing, members, servers and keys).
- “Member” means a user with access under an Organisation (owner/admin/moderator roles).
- “API Key” means a secret credential used by your server/plugin/integration to authenticate uploads and actions.
- “Plan” means your subscription tier (free/beta/paid) and its limits (e.g., retention, storage, team size, features).
- “Steam” means Steam/OpenID and related identity services used for authentication.
3. Eligibility & accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and authorised to operate the server/Organisation you connect to the Service.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date (including Organisation details, member access, and billing details where applicable).
- You are responsible for the actions of your Members, and for any access you grant (including moderators, contractors, and bots).
Owner responsibility: If you’re an Owner, you are responsible for managing access, keeping your roster tidy, removing departed moderators, and ensuring the right people have the right permissions.
4. Steam sign-in & third-party services
The Service may rely on third-party services (for example, Steam/OpenID for login, Discord for webhooks/notifications, payment processors for billing, and cloud hosting/storage providers). These third parties have their own terms and policies, and you must comply with them.
- We do not control Steam/Discord/Stripe or other third-party services, and we are not responsible for their outages, changes, or restrictions.
- If a third party blocks, rate-limits, changes APIs, or alters policies, parts of the Service may degrade or stop working until updated.
- You must not use the Service in a way that violates game platform rules, Steam terms, Discord terms, or any applicable laws.
DemoPro is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Facepunch Studios, Valve, or Steam.
5. Keys, security & access
- Keep API Keys secret. Treat keys like passwords. Do not post them in screenshots, tickets, public repos, or Discord channels.
- You are responsible for anything done with your keys. If your key is used to upload or access Content, we treat that as authorised by you unless you notify us of compromise.
- Rotate and revoke. If you suspect compromise, rotate/revoke the key immediately and remove the old key from servers.
- Least privilege. Only grant portal access to people who genuinely need it (and remove them promptly when they leave).
Security response: We may disable keys, suspend accounts, or block requests if we detect abuse, compromise, suspicious traffic, or activity that risks the Service or other customers.
6. Acceptable use
The Service exists to support legitimate moderation, anti-cheat investigation, and evidence workflows. You agree not to misuse it.
- No illegal content or activity. Do not use the Service for unlawful surveillance, harassment, doxxing, threats, or any illegal purpose.
- No abuse of the platform. Do not attempt to bypass plan limits, probe security, scrape data, reverse engineer, exploit bugs, or overload the Service.
- No unauthorised access. Do not access or attempt to access Content that is not yours or not within your Organisation’s scope.
- No resale without permission. Do not resell, white-label, or provide the Service to third parties without written approval.
- No malware. Do not upload malicious payloads, or use the Service to distribute malware, phishing, or harmful links.
We may remove Content and/or restrict access if we reasonably believe your use violates these Terms, platform policies, or law.
7. Recording, evidence & moderation responsibilities
The Service may capture and process gameplay recordings (“demos”), report metadata, event markers, and related evidence bundles to help your team review player reports. Because this relates to other people (players), you agree to the following:
- You are the decision-maker. We provide tools; you decide what action to take. We do not make moderation decisions for you.
- You must notify players where required. If you record players or store identifiers (e.g., SteamIDs), you are responsible for providing any required server notices and meeting your legal/platform obligations.
- Evidence is best-effort. Demos can be incomplete due to disconnects, crashes, game limitations, storage caps, network issues, or third-party changes. We do not guarantee a particular outcome or that every report will produce a complete bundle.
- Handle evidence carefully. Treat evidence bundles as sensitive. If you share them outside your moderation team, you do so at your own risk and must comply with law and platform rules.
Not legal evidence advice: The Service is designed for game server moderation workflows. If you intend to use Content in legal or regulatory contexts, you are responsible for verifying authenticity, chain of custody, and admissibility requirements.
8. Content, licences & takedown
Your Content stays yours. You retain ownership of your Content and any rights you have in it.
Licence you grant us. To operate the Service, you grant DemoPro a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, transmit, cache, display (to your authorised Members), and create technical derivatives of Content (e.g., packaging, thumbnails, metadata indexing), solely to provide, secure, support, and improve the Service.
You promise you have rights to upload. You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights, permissions, and lawful basis to upload and share Content, including any player identifiers and report information.
Takedown & enforcement
- We may remove or restrict access to Content if required by law, to comply with platform policies, or to address abuse/security risks.
- We may preserve logs and relevant records to comply with legal obligations, investigate abuse, or enforce these Terms.
9. Privacy & data protection
The Service processes identifiers (such as SteamIDs), report metadata (names/reasons/messages), and operational logs (IP addresses, timestamps, actions) to provide moderation workflows, security, and auditability.
- Controller vs processor: In most cases, your Organisation is the “controller” for player/report data you upload, and DemoPro acts as a “processor” providing the Service. You are responsible for choosing a lawful basis and meeting your notice obligations.
- Access controls: Content is scoped to your Organisation and accessible to your authorised Members, subject to role permissions.
- Audit logging: We may log key actions (logins, downloads, changes, review actions) for security and accountability.
See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for more detail.
10. Plan limits, fair use & abuse protection
Plans include limits such as retention windows, storage caps, upload/bandwidth ceilings, server/team caps, and API rate limits. These limits exist to keep the Service stable and fair.
- Enforcement: We may throttle, queue, rate-limit, delay processing, or temporarily block uploads/actions that exceed limits or appear abusive.
- Overages: If you exceed your plan allowance, we may require you to upgrade, reduce usage, or wait for usage to fall back within limits.
- Operational safety: We may reject duplicate/conflicting uploads, quarantine malformed archives, or block suspicious traffic to protect the pipeline.
We are not liable for losses caused by your failure to manage usage (e.g., storage fills, retention expires, or uploads are paused due to limits).
11. Billing, cancellation & refunds
Where paid plans apply, subscriptions are billed in advance and typically renew automatically unless cancelled. Billing may be handled by a third-party payment processor.
We may offer an affiliate/referral program that provides discounts or trial rewards to new customers and commissions to approved affiliates. Referrals are tracked through affiliate links or codes and recorded at signup/checkout.
- Taxes: Prices may be exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
- Renewals: Your plan renews unless you cancel before the renewal date shown in your billing portal (if available).
- Cancellation: If you cancel, you generally keep access until the end of your current billing period (unless suspended for breach/security/legal reasons).
- Non-payment: If payment fails or a subscription becomes inactive/expired, we may suspend uploads and/or portal access, and may apply a grace period where configured.
- Refunds: Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or where we explicitly agree otherwise in writing.
- Affiliate attribution: Referral rewards and commissions are subject to verification, eligibility rules, and anti-abuse checks. We may withhold, reverse, or deny rewards for fraud, chargebacks, self-referrals, or policy violations.
Chargebacks/fraud: If you initiate a chargeback or we suspect fraudulent activity, we may immediately suspend access to prevent further loss and investigate.
12. Availability, support & changes
- As-is / as-available: The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
- Maintenance: We may perform maintenance, deploy updates, or change infrastructure that may cause downtime or behaviour changes.
- Support: Support is best-effort and may vary by plan. We may ask for logs/diagnostics to troubleshoot issues.
- Changes: We may add, remove, or modify features, limits, or plans. Where practical, we’ll provide notice for material changes.
Some features may be labelled beta/preview. Beta features can change or be removed and may be less reliable.
13. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate access (including disabling API keys) immediately if we reasonably believe:
- you violated these Terms or applicable laws/platform rules;
- your usage threatens security, stability, or other customers;
- your account/keys are compromised or used fraudulently;
- payment is overdue or a subscription is inactive (where billing applies); or
- we are required to do so by law or to protect rights/safety.
You may stop using the Service at any time. Termination does not remove your responsibility for charges already incurred, or for obligations that should reasonably survive (e.g., indemnity, liability limits).
14. Retention, deletion & backups
- Retention windows: Content may be automatically deleted after your plan’s retention period or when storage caps are reached.
- Deletion: If you delete Content (or an incident is purged), it may be removed from active storage; residual copies may persist briefly in caches/backups or logs as part of normal operations.
- Backups: We may maintain backups for resilience, but we do not guarantee restoration of any specific Content.
- Your responsibility: If you need long-term archiving, export and store your own copies. Do not rely on the Service as your sole archive.
15. Intellectual property & third-party rights
- Our IP: The Service (software, UI, branding, and non-customer content) is owned by us or our licensors and protected by IP laws.
- Your licence: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within your Organisation for its intended purpose.
- No reverse engineering: You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service except where the law explicitly permits it.
- Third-party IP: Game content, trademarks, and platform assets belong to their respective owners. You are responsible for complying with their rules when recording, sharing, or distributing demos.
16. Disclaimers
- We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
- We do not guarantee that recordings, report metadata, event markers, or bundles will always be complete, accurate, or available.
- We are not responsible for moderation outcomes, bans, appeals, disputes, or any actions you take based on Content.
- We are not responsible for outages or failures caused by third-party services, game updates, hosting providers, or your own infrastructure.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be limited (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
17. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DemoPro will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid to DemoPro for the Service in the three (3) months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim.
If you use the Service for business purposes, you accept that this limitation is a core part of the bargain and pricing.
18. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DemoPro from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- your Content (including alleged infringement, privacy, or data protection claims);
- your or your Members’ misuse of the Service;
- your breach of these Terms; or
- your violation of law or third-party terms/policies.
19. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law rules. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to contact us first and make a reasonable effort to resolve the dispute informally.
